Kuykendall and Nakano Win Los Angeles World 14.1 Championship Qualifier

Billiards News - Danny K's in California hosted the 2007 Los Angeles World 14.1 Championship Qualifier. This event would be the only World 14.1 Qualifier to be held on the West Coast, and only one of six qualifiers total. Last year no qualifiers were held on the West Coast, but owner Danny Kuykendall had a deep desire to promote the growth of straight pool in his home turf and has also been a co-sponsor supporter of pro events such as Dragon Promotions US Pro Tour Championship and is a card carrying member of the UPA. The World 14.1 Championships main event will be held on July 9-14,2007 at the Hilton in East Brunswick NJ. Tickets can be bought online now at Dragonpromotions.com.

{sidebar id=1}With a modest field to start the first year, there still seem to be some stiff competition among the 14.1 players in Cali with high runs from Ramin Bakhtiari with a 76, Dave Nakano a 56 and Danny Kuykendall with several runs in the 40s. Room owner Kuykendall would go undefeated and win a free entry and spot in the main event and will be placed in one of the round robin groups with a guaranteed 7 matches to be played as well as newcomer David Nakano who won the one loss side.

Both players will have the honor of facing the world's best straight pool players today with the likes of Mika Immonen, Allen Hopkins, Tony Robles, and Reigning World Champion Thorsten Hohmann.
