ESPN Announces Airdates for the Enjoypool.com 9-Ball
Debut airings scheduled for late June
Broomfield, Colorado - May 18, 2007 - The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) today announced that ESPN will air the semi-final and final rounds of the 2007 Enjoypool.com 9-Ball Championships on June 24, 2007. The event is taking place at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from May 13-19, 2007 with broadcast tapings set for Friday and Saturday evening of that week.
As more broadcasts are scheduled, show updates will appear regularly on the EnjoyPool.com Web site, and the preliminary lineup is as follows:
Sunday, June 24 @ 2:00 p.m., Men's Semi-final
Sunday, June 24 @ 3:00 p.m., Men's Final
Sunday, June 24 @ 4:00 p.m., Women's Semi-final
Sunday, June 24 @ 5:00 p.m., Women's Final
Broadcast support is exceptional, with four (4) hours of first-run programming secured for airing by ESPN. Viewer ratings in 2006 set a new benchmark with a .64 and ESPN has historically exceeded its contract hours - at least six times over - in each year of the consecutive season showings. Since the BCA first began airing its pro 9-Ball Championships on ESPN in 1999, both live and tape-delayed competition broadcasts have skyrocketed in popularity.
Viewer ratings have ranged from a .29 average rating (253,469 households) for the debut of all four rounds, to a peak of .64 (586,540) for a single showing of the women's final. ESPN's benchmark rating average for all taped sporting events is .20, making billiards a market standout for both the channel and official BCA sponsors, who win big with a high return on their ad investment.
Throughout the televised rounds, rotating arena banners will reach millions of billiard fans on ESPN, promoting the official 2007 sponsors, which include: Diamond Billiard Products (table); Cuetec (cue); Imperial International - Aramith (ball); Tweeten Fibre Co., Inc. (chalk); Ozone Billiards (rack); PoolDawg.com (closed captioning); American Poolplayers Association (arena).
