51 and Counting for Putnam on the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorCanton, OH - Shawn Putnam was at it again as the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour pulled 54 players into Fiddlestix of Canton, OH. The March 4-5 event paid out a purse of $3,630. Placing first, this was number 51 for Putnam’s run on the Viking Tour. The hot seat match saw Justin Daniels, a former student of Putnam’s, play an amazing match against Putnam. Both players were phenomenal, but Putnam obviously did really well at teaching Daniels, since he took Putnam down 9-8. Tullio Antonelli slugged it out with Nate Laidman in the semifinals. Antonelli tried his hardest to hold ground, but he slipped in the last game, allowing Laidman to win 7-6. Quicker than you can spell the word I, Putnam flattened the emerging Laidman 7-1 in the semifinals.
Putnam wanted his big payback against Daniels in the finals. Having already given Daniels many lessons, Putnam was convinced that Daniels needed a really fast and intense survey class on final matches. Putnam stopped at nothing as he won the first set 9-3, and the second set 7-1 to place first yet again.
