Anderson Mounts Another Trophy on the CNY 9-Ball TourBy Matthew Pingor Binghamton, NY - Travis Anderson made a mark in history as he took down 36 of the 37-player field that converged on Binghamton, NY, for the CNY 9-Ball tour. Congregating at Billairds Lounge, the March 11-12 event distributed a total purse of $1,380. As Saturday night’s gauntlet of intensity tapered the field to 8 players, Sunday’s matches became a storm for the money spots. Anderson had the eyes of a sniper when he sparred with Jim Forsythe in the hot seat match. Forsythe could not get more than one game on the board and fell to Anderson 7-1. The quarterfinals saw Seth Delvillano square up to Tim Davis. This match was fast as well. Leaving Davis in the dust 8-2, Delvillano climbed the rung to the semifinals. The semifinals should embody the kind of mental pressure that only Air-Traffic-Control personnel experience. Forsythe and Delvillano definitely had that covered. The semifinal match lasted a bit longer for the crowd to watch Delvillano take his time cutting Forsythe down 8-5.
As the finals began, Anderson arose comfortably from his break, but could not retain composure in his game. This resulted in his 8-5 fall to Delvillano in the first match. Both players stepped aside and concluded that the second round should consist of one game. The agreement they reached made the single game a quick and humane means of euthanasia for whoever placed second. Anderson scoped the table and focused on every shot of that game so well that he put Delvillano to sleep 1-0.
