Billbrey Gets Revenge in Florida Billiardsby Rick Davis Will Billbrey showed his billiard skills at the Florida Pro Tour, where he took first place by virtue of a 9-1 defeat of Steve Moore. The previous tour stop had the same match-up in the finals, and although everyone expected the same result, Billbrey came through to take his first tour title.Moore and Billbrey skipped through the winners’ bracket to face off in the hot seat match. Along the way Moore had bested Corey Deuel 8-7, while Billbrey sent Tony Chohan to the one-loss side after an 8-3 defeat. Billbrey kept control in the hot seat match, sending Moore away 8-3 to face whoever appeared on top of the one-loss side.
The west side offered plenty to talk about as Ron Wiseman gave an impressive performance after last weekend’s dubious play. Wiseman eliminated Tony Crosby 8-2 before hitting Chohan’s brick wall, eliminating Wiseman from play. Local player James Laderia continued to surprise the crowd as he eliminated John Foster 8-5, Rich Orem 8-5, and Corey Deuel 8-6 before becoming another victim of Chohan’s. With Chohan on top of the one-loss side, Moore was eager to face Billbrey again for another title, so he made short work of Chohan and moved on after destroying him 8-2. Just like the previous event, Moore had lost in the hot seat match to return to the finals; however, this time Billbrey had his number, as he put Moore down 9-1 to take his first Florida Tour win.
