Billiards Results from the Badger State GamesBilliards made its introduction into the Badger State Winter Games the weekend of February 3-5, 2006. The competition was conducted at Dale’s Weston Lanes near Wausau, Wisconsin, host city of the 2006 Badger State Winter Games. Competition was open to any amateur player residing in Wisconsin.In all 8-Ball divisions, the undefeated A-side finalist held off the challenge from the B-side finalist, as Jon Kent clipped Dave Torzewski in one set, 4-2, for the Men’s ‘A’ Singles title; Lori Nelson defeated Debra Stefonik, 3-2, in one set for the Women’s ‘A’ Singles title; Deon Burgard outpointed Paul Salinas, 3-4, 4-2, in two sets for the Men’s ‘B’ Singles title; Alison Fischer turned back Sherri Flack, 3-1, in one set for the Women’s ‘B’ Singles title; Cameron Schumacher slipped by Ryan Thomas, 1-3, 3-2, in two sets for the Junior Singles title; and the Weston Cue Club team of Jon Kent and Lori Nelson dominated the Wilson’s #1 team of Sherri Flack and Steve Lindert, 3-0, in one set for the Scotch Doubles crown.
All medalists from this competition are now qualified to compete in the Billiards competition at the 2007 State Games of America, August 2-5, 2007, in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, where over 10,000 athletes from 49 State Games will contend in as many as twenty-five sports in an Olympic-style, multi-sport setting. Billiards is currently conducted in nine of the thirty-nine State Games: Arizona,Colorado, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
