Boys Meet Girls at IPT Billiards TournamentIn an incredible matchup in today’s third round of the IPT billiard tournament, the WPBA’s number-one player, Allison Fisher, met Efren “Bata” Reyes, arguably the best male player in the world, on the TV table. And across the room, reigning U.S. Open champion Alex Pagulayan faced off with Jasmin Ouschan, who recently burst onto the US pool scene last May when she defeated Allison Fisher for the EnjoyPool.com 9-Ball Championship.Though Pagulayan defeated Ouschan 8-4, he didn’t seem pleased with his performance. He won the first two games, broke and ran three in a row, and then paused to allow Ouschan on the board 5-2. From there, Ouschan nudged the score to 6-4 Pagulayan, but “The Lion” took control of the last two racks. When asked about his match, he said, “I can’t tell right now. Regarding Ouchan, Pagulayan stated, “Oh! She plays good, she plays strong. I think she is going to be one of the best women’s players.”Reyes made quick work of the top WPBA player, quickly going up to a 7-0 lead with two break and run-outs. After allowing Fisher to win a rack, Reyes finished off the match 8-1.“When I play the ladies … my concentration no good. She’s good, but every time the balls don’t go on the break. Not only that, but I don’t make a ball on the break in two racks. Then every time I break I don’t get any good position. I have to play good because Kim Davenport beat me—he played good to me. I feel good about how I’m playing.
