Bromley and Li Take Billiard Doubles WinTri-State Tour / New York, NYby Rick DavisThe team of Charles Bromley Jr. and Michelle Li overcame the 13-team field at the Tri-State Tour’s scotch doubles event. Taking place at Amsterdam Billiards in New York, NY, November 5, the handicapped event was the latest offering from the tour’s wide range of events.After a brief but intense opening, the event was down to the top four teams in no time. Bromley and Li faced off against Steve Falconer and Jacob Schwartz in the hot seat match, where the scales tipped quickly in favor of Bromley and Li. Before long, Bromley and Li had emerged with a 7-4 victory ushering them into the finals.
On the one-loss side Frank Tonn and Paul Roeraade faced Clayton van Ortwick and Anthony Pizzaro in a grinding double-hill match. When the smoke cleared, Tonn and Roeraade had emerged victorious and headed for the semifinals. There they came into another tough match, this time against Falconer and Schwartz, but the double-hill outcome went the other way as Falconer and Schwartz moved on to the finals.Falconer and Schwartz had the chance for a rematch against Bromley and Li, and although they managed to get one rack closer, the same outcome unfolded and Bromley and Li cleaned up with a 7-5 final score to take the event.Results:1st Charles Bromley Jr. / Michelle Li2nd Steve Falconer / Jacob Schwartz3rd Frank Tonn / Paul Roeraade4th Clayton van Ortwick / Anthony Pizzaro
