Chen Beats Slow Action at Fast Eddie’sby Rick DavisThrough a long event of close and breeze-through matches, Jui-Lung Chen left victorious as the winner of the Fast Eddies 9-Ball Tour at Fast Eddie’s in Amarillo, TX, June 25. The $1,750 added for this open event was enough to draw in 52 entries for the weekend. There was nearly 50 hours of play, and action was grueling towards the last day as many of the matches were plagued with breaking problems, according to the tournament director, who took over racking for at least one match. As the action reached play on Sunday, the matches looked like they were all lopsided. Robert Newkirk defeated 19-year old Anna Kostanian 7-3, while Justin Cone knocked out Shane Harvey 7-4. Creeping along, Cone flew past Newkirk, only allowing him two racks before clenching the win.
The top three players made things more interesting as their matches were much closer. James Davis Sr. then squeaked past Cone 9-7 in order to reach the finals where Chen was waiting. Chen and Davis fought hard, but Davis could not hold on as Chen won 9-7.Results1st Jui-Lung Chen2nd James Davis Sr.3rd Justin Cone4th Robert Newkirk5th Shane HarveyAnna Kostanian
