Chen Racks Up His Third Billiards WinFast Eddie’s 9-Ball Tour / Lafayette, LAby Rick DavisJui-Lung Chen swept the field at the Fast Eddie’s 9-Ball Tour to take his third top finish of the season. The tenth stop of the 2006 tour took place at Fast Eddie’s in Lafayette, LA, over the October 14 weekend, where 33 of the best players in the region battled it out. Chen quickly made his way to the hot seat match where he faced Charles Bryant, and after a seesaw match, Chen crept ahead to take the match 9-7. Meanwhile, players on the one-loss side were giving it their all to stay alive in the event.
Brian Jones eliminated Gary Abood 7-4, while Kenny Greer did the same to Jay Calhoun 7-3, though they hit a stop sign in the next round. Jones was quickly dealt with by Scotty Townsend, who served up a 7-2 defeat, and although Greer was able to hold on longer, James Davis Sr. bested him 7-5. Townsend was on fire after a strong win and kept the flames hot as he toasted Davis 7-2 then scorched Bryant 7-4 to reach the finals. Chen’s stranglehold on the event was kept in check early on by Townsend, as neither player took the lead. Eventually, in the final rack Chen walked away the winner from the double-hill showdown.Results:1st Jui-Lung Chen2nd Scotty Townsend3rd Charles Bryant4th James Davis Sr.5th Brian JonesKenny Greer7th Gary AboodJay Calhoun
