Davis Dictates In York on the Blaze 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorYork, PA - Ivory Billiards, of York, PA, was proud to host Mike Davis’s first place success on the Blaze 9-Ball Tour. March 12 saw a field of 32 radiate the room’s 27 tables with more energy than Three Mile Island. That was no surprise seeing how twelve spots paid out from a $3,000 purse. Dick Magaro appeared in the hot seat match for a run in with Davis. They played outstandingly for a while before Davis pulled the carpet out from under Magaro. Davis secured his spot in the finals with a 7-4 win. In the quarterfinals, Jerry Slivka was having trouble against Ryan McCreesh. He kept that trouble all throughout the match until McCreesh ended the scene 7-3. That was not the end of McCreesh. He moved on to fight Magaro in the semifinals and won 7-5.
What did end McCreesh was the level that Davis plays on. He had no way around that fact in the finals. Davis had watched McCreesh fair well during the event, but now it was his turn. In that turn, Davis crushed McCreesh into corn meal 9-1.
