Deuel and Archer Round out Final Four in Texas Hold 'Em
by Sally P. Timko
In a match that went into overtime, Corey "The Prince of Pool" Deuel advanced into the Texas Hold 'Em Billiards finals, with Johnny Archer squeaking by as well. The Texas Hold 'Em and Skins Billiards events were held February 10 at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA.

Of the other two in their semifinal quartet, Luc Salvas was the first to go, going all-in in the twelfth rack. The speedy Canadian was eliminated when Deuel capitalized on an Archer scratch on the break. Jeanette Lee, however, looked as though she were going to outlast even Archer. Though Deuel's chip count was $340,000 in the thirteenth rack, she was still sitting pretty with $120,000, while Archer was all-in at $40,000.
Archer's luck held out, and he managed to scrape and claw his way back into the thick of things. Lee, on the other hand, watched her bankroll dwindle until it came down to both her and Archer being all-in. At the table, Archer got out of line for the 5 and scratched, but Deuel was able to pick up the pieces and run out. Though a crowd favorite, Lee was automatically eliminated, but Archer will enter the finals with $100,000 in chips as a wild card.
