Hatch Fells Whole Forest on the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorBaldwinsville, NY - Dennis “The Hatchet Man” Hatch won nine matches in a row before reaching the finals, as the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour parked at Michelle’s Billiard Café of Baldwinsville, NY. With a purse of $5,640, the March 4-5 event welcomed a field of 33 players. The hot seat match featured a fight for comfort between Eric Hildebrand and Erik Hjorleifson. Hildebrand put up a relentless fight, but was put down as Hjorleifson took the match 9-7. Passing from the right lane as much as possible, Hatch was on a roll well before he faced Joe Korsiac in the quarterfinals. Korsiac could only win six games as Hatch zipped by 9-6. Hatch’s next obstacle, in the semifinals, was a vengeful Hildebrand. To move forward, Hatch had to chop Hildebrand to pieces 9-5.
In the finals, Hatch did not have it so easy against Hjorleifson. The first set was long, as Hjorleifson fell to Hatch 9-8. Still ready to give Hatch a rough time, Hjorleifson was up 7-6 following a three game deficit. Hatch was not willing to have his nerves jostled any longer, so he decided to win the second set 9-7.Results:1st Dennis Hatch2nd Erik Hjorleifson3rd Eric Hildebrand4th Joe Korsiac5th Jose MendezEvan Broxmeyer7th David GrauJohn MorraVisit Inside POOL Magazine for the latest news from the Joss 9 Ball Tour.
