New Ladies on the Block By Bill Rosenberger and Denise Belanger The Canadian Women's Pool Tour continued its winter 8-ball league at Le Skratch in Oshawa, ontario, on December 4, 2004, with some new "Hot Shots" grabbing the win. "Hot Shots," which consisted of Sharlene Watkinson, Zabrina Wellman, and Kelly Shaddock, entered the event in hopes of the qualifying for the Valley National 8-ball Association Provincial Championship in February. But defending champion "Pandora's Box" put up a fight to keep their top spot. "Kraft Dinner Deluxe" opened up their fury in the opening match against "Pandora's Box," shutting out the front-runner 4-0. "Sharp Shooters" also took out last month's runner-up "Casino Queens" 4-0, leaving the field wide open for any team earn the points. While all the competition was close, "Hot Shots" proved that they could walk the walk, coming back from three straight 3-1 deficits against "Kraft," Casino Queens," and "Sharp Shooters," to give them ten points. After "Hot Shot" took the win, it was announced that there was a three-way tie, so, as agreed upon at the first event, teams turned in their total points minus handicaps to determine the places. Coming in second with 289 points was "Kraft Dinner Deluxe," while "Pandora's Box came in third with 285 points, and "Sharp Shooters" took third with 258 points.
