Paula Emerges Undefeated in KBP Central Florida Billiards Tournamentby Rick DavisThe eleventh stop of the KBP Central Florida Tour drew a strong 32-player field for Nomar Paula to destroy. Taking place August 5-6 at Planet 9-Ball in Tampa, FL, this was Paula’s first top finish, in addition to his multiple second- and third-place finishes from earlier in the season.Elvis Rodriguez clashed with Paula to determine who would be the king of the hill, but it didn’t take long for Rodriguez to bend beneath the true king as Paula defeated him 7-3. On the one-loss side, Jason Richko stormed past Travis Moore 5-1, while Louis Altes was nearly as efficient, eliminating Josh Lewis 5-2. Richko and Altes had a close battle until the end, when Richko pulled out the double-hill win. Facing Rodriguez, who sent Richko to the one-loss side early on, another even match unfolded, going double-hill with Richko then advancing to the finals from back-to-back 5-4 wins.
In the finals, Richko was hot from a string of wins, but Paula was not in the hot seat through chance, and his expert play to that point carried him through the match, defeating Richko 9-7.Results:1st Nomar Paula2nd Jason Richko3rd Elvis Rodriguez4th Louis Altes5th Travis MooreJosh LewisVisit Inside POOL Magazine for the latest news from the sport of billiards and pool.
