Second Win for White on Showdown Tourby Craig MisenerThe Canadian Showdown Tour visited LeSkratch Billiards in Oshawa, ontario on April 9-10, with 53 players competing for the top prize. The field included the young sharpshooter John Morra, his dad Mario, and Chris Orme, not to mention previous winners Jeff White and Andrew Attard. While Attard faded early, White kept motoring on, hoping to add another victory to his already impressive resume. The younger Morra also moved on by besting his father, but he, too, was sent packing early Sunday morning. The second day brought back eight players to compete in the money rounds, with many of the matches playing out tight. Harold Rouseau bested Martin Daigle 9-4, while White knocked D.J. McGinley to the left side 9-6. This set up the hot seat match between Rouseau and White, and the match was quickly decided in White's favor 9-4. In the one-loss side, Daigle moved on by ousting Orme but was soon defeated by McGinley, who advanced to the semifinals to face Rouseau. The match was close early on, but McGinley's late rally earned him the 7-4 win.The race-to-11 final match was everything the fans could have asked for as White and McGinley battled to double hill. In the decisive rack, McGinley seemed to have the upper hand after sinking three balls on the break, but he needed a near-perfect run out to secure the win. Late in the rack, McGinley took a chance and tried to break up the remaining balls but scratched, leaving White to clean off the table and earn the victory.Results:1st Jeff White $1,7502nd D.J.
