Smith Tops Field at Rudy’s Place
by InsidePOOL Staff
The twenty-first stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour featured a $500-added purse with 33 players and was hosted by Rudy’s Place in Aurora, IL. Held February 10, this event included a double-elimination 8-ball format on bar boxes, in which John Smith ran undefeated to the finals.

In the hot seat match, Smith sprinted past Bob Romano 5-2. Earlier in the A bracket semifinals, Smith had out-pointed Chad Hefke 5-2, while Romano knocked off Mark Rudolph 5-3. In the B-side, Mark Rudolph clipped Rich Mager 5-4, and Chad Hefke knocked out Ben Garcia 5-1. Hefke then ousted Rudolph 5-1 and continued on in the B side finals to eliminate Romano 5-4. Smith continued his dominance in the tourney finals, defeating Hefke 5-1 for the title.

Saturday, February 24, will feature two McDermott All-American Tour stops: Smokies in Virginia Beach, VA, hosting a $1,000-added 9-ball stop (for onsite entry details contact Mike Wilson at 757-855-2071 ext. 3) and Lassiter’s Billiards in Clinton, IA, hosting a $500-added 8-ball stop (for onsite entry details contact Jon Van Roekel at 563-243-4361).  Information, entry details, and schedules for the 2006/2007 McDermott All-American Tour are available at Americancuesports.org. The ACS is a non-profit, national organization dedicated to heightening the interest and awareness of cue sports through the support and sanctioning of organized competition throughout the United States and North America.
