Sometimes Perfect Isn’t Enough in Pool“I’m playin’ perfect, and I got beat eight-one,” exclaimed Mike Sigel after his loss to 2004 Player of the Year Thomas Engert of Germany. Engert went through Sigel like a train, scoring four break and run-outs in their match. The young Europeans are doing very well in the second round. Jasmin Ouschan went to the hill with Frankie Hernandez and won her first match of the day. Russia’s Evgeny Stalev bested Paul Potier 8-5, and Dutchman Niels Feijen took over his match with Quinten Hann and won 8-2. Tony “The Tornado” Drago of Malta routed Michael Zimmerman 8-1, and Raj “Hitman” Hundal won over Germany’s Ralph Eckert 8-2.Discuss the IPT World Open 8-Ball ChampionshipVisit the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship Image Gallery
Mika Immonen of Finland dusted Cliff Joyner in their second-round match 8-2, saying, “It was a good score—I made some mistakes. It should have been seven-zero. I let have a chance to get a few, but he made more unforced errors than me and I won a couple of games I was just collecting from his mistakes. So I’m two for two, and there is another guy two for two—Tony Chohan, I think—I think I’m looking pretty good because these guys were two of the best in the group, although Tony Chohan is going to be a tough one. I feel good … I have a very good percentage, so if I’m gonna tie with someone, I’m gonna be the one going through, because I’m over seventy percent.”The only Filipino to register a win in this round so far has been Dennis Orcollo 8-5 over Markus Juva. Jose Parica lost 8-1 to Gerry Watson of Canada, Dallas West had a close game with Marlon Manalo but won 8-6, and Danny Harriman devastated Warren Kiamco 8-1.Imran Majid put the heat on Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan and came out the 8-1 victor of that match. “I feel really good,” said Majid happily. “I came out of the gate strong, ran three or four racks and put the pressure on him, and then he started twitching as human beings do. It’s amazing what you can do when you put the pressure on someone. I’m feeling good, the breaks are going good … I’m getting two or three on every break and I’m keeping my white central and getting easy run-outs. I’m just gonna take each match as it comes, take each ball at a time, each rack at a time, and you never know … might get through!” Round 2 GROUP 41GROUP 42GROUP 43GROUP 44GROUP 45GROUP 46GROUP 47GROUP 48GROUP 49GROUP 50GROUP 51GROUP 52GROUP 53GROUP 54GROUP 55GROUP 56GROUP 57GROUP 58GROUP 59GROUP 60K.
