Song Tops the Chart Viking Cue 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorDuluth, GA - Paul Song’s pride, confidence, and wallet grew as he took first place at the February 4-5 stop of the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour. Packing The Pool Room of Duluth, GA, a 79-player field fought over the $2,500 added. The hot seat match featured WPBA player and Atlanta resident Monica Webb and Paul Song. They traded games back and forth until the score was 4-all. In no way did Song want Webb to get a run, so when she made a few lethal mistakes, he took the match in his own hands and Webb watched as Song went on to win 9-4.
In the quarterfinals, Chuck Dorsett faced off against one-pocket master Cliff Joyner. Dorsett managed to squeak out five games, but that was it, as Joyner won the match 7-5. With Dorsett out of the way, Joyner moved on to face Webb. Joyner was a tough force to stop, and he plowed over Webb 7-2. Ready to keep his momentum, Joyner focused on playing an eager-to-win Song. Joyner got an early lead putting the score at 7-4, but Song took over from there. In what seemed like a few seconds, Song had comeback to win 9-7.
