The Duchess waits for The Invaderby Rick DavisDown to the semifinals at the WPBA Florida Classic in Hollywood, FL, where Monica Webb faced off against Allison Fisher and Jeanette Lee matched up with Karen Corr. In the first match Allison “The Duchess of Doom” Fisher defeated Monica Webb by a strong 7-3 margin. Webb said, “I missed two balls I should not have, but even when she missed, I didn’t have a shot.” Fisher agreed, saying, “We both struggled,” and looking forward to the finals, she added, “I feel good going into the finals, and hopefully I will wind up on the right side of it.”View the tournament bracket
Shortly after Karen “The Irish Invader” Corr fought a see-saw match against Lee but took it 7-5 in the end. Both players missed short, straight-in shots that shocked the crowd and several shots were rattling in one corner. Added to several scratches on the break, it was easy to see neither player was at her best. After being down 6-3, Lee tried to rile up the crowd and through their applause said, “It’s a long road, but I’m ready to take it.” That road was closed by Corr, who will now take it to meet Fisher.Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
