Three Billiard Players Undefeated on Tri-StateTri-State Tour / New York, NYby Rick DavisThe Tri-State Tour held their regular straight pool event at Amsterdam Billiards in New York, NY, the October 7-8 weekend. Three handicapped divisions played for their share of the $1,000-added purse. The B class had five players who were schooled by Tim Edmonds, the only player not to receive a bye. Edmonds defeated Ariel Rivera 100-93 in the hot seat match, then enjoyed some rest while the others battled between themselves. Rivera met Carl Yusuf Khan on the one-loss side, and after a come-from-behind 100-72 victory, Rivera was back to face Edmonds. In the finals Edmonds slowly moved into the lead and built it quickly, taking the top spot with a 100-61 finish.
Action in the C division was a little bulkier with 19 entries, although once again the winner came through undefeated. Charles Bromley Jr. faced Richard Feltz in the hot seat match and came from behind to win 80-75. On the one-loss side Paul Bausch was on a mission, as he had taken two solid wins before an 80-29 stomping by Feltz sent him to the one-loss. There Bausch took another pair of matches to face Feltz again, this time eliminating him 80-47. In the finals neither player could close out the match, both missing several critical shots that could have sealed the deal, but eventually Bromley came through with the 100-86 finish. Another group of nine players composed the D division, where Mike Petrosino went undefeated, keeping the theme for the event. Petrosino made short work of Benjamin Lee in the hot seat match, sending him away 60-28. On the one-loss side Lee was eliminated by Jeff Dworzenski by a slim 60-58 margin. A close match unfolded in the finals, but Petrosino stayed in control for the 80-74 win.
