Tidewater Finale Ends Successful SeasonBy Bill RosenbergerWith the regular season finished, the Fury Tidewater Tour held a grand finale on December 4, 2004, at Q Master's Billiards in Virginia Beach, VA.  While many of the players were newcomers, the tour's success will surely bring them back next year. The only prominent name that made a run at the title was points champion and InsidePOOL Magazine's January Regional Player of the Month Tommy Cooke, but he bowed out Saturday evening to finish tied for fifth.  The hot hands belonged to 14-year-old Curtis Coleman, Rick Zeiner, Erice Moore, and Sam Monday.  In the winners' bracket quarterfinals, Moore shutout Junior Jones 7-0, while Monday bested Zeiner 7-3.  Moore and Monday then met in a close match for the hot seat.  Up 6-5 Monday played a safe on the 1 ball, but Moore made a tough shot and ran out to tie it on the hill.  Then he broke and ran to earn a spot in the finals. In the west side, Zeiner faced the young Coleman, who gave him quite a match.  After Zeiner stretched out to a 4-0 lead, Coleman showed why he is one of the best junior players in Virginia by storming with three straight games.  Zeiner, though, closed the deal on the next rack for the 5-3 win.  Zeiner didn't get to celebrate his win very long, as Monday handed him a 5-1 loss in the semifinals.Moore and Monday hooked up again in the finals, with this match as tight as the first.  Monday roared out to a 4-0 lead, but Moore took the next five racks to go up by one.  The two traded games back and forth until the match was tied at 7 apiece, then it got really interesting.  In the fifteenth rack, Moore came up dry on the break, and he could only watch as Monday ran out the rack and followed it up with a break and run to win 9-7.Results:1st Sam Monday $6202nd Eric Moore $3703rd Rick Zeiner $2454th Curtis Coleman $1355th Tommy Cooke, Junior Jones $75 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the Tidewater Tour.
