Undefeated Morra Takes Waterloo StopCanadian 30K Tour / Waterloo, ONT
by Willy Hermoza and Tony Butera
Fresh off a fine performance the weekend before at the Turning Stone Classic, John Morra snapped off the March 3-4 stop of the Canadian 30K Tour. Hosted by Pool Paradise in Waterloo, ONT, this event garnered 34 players all trying to grab the stop.
Morra was too hard to subdue, though, and he cruised undefeated through the winners’ side to fight Chris Orme for the hot seat, prevailing with a 9-6 score and sending Orme to grind it out on the one-loss side.
Neil Mills ousted Terry Davidson 7-2, sending him home with fifth place, while in the lower bracket Hsin Huang steamrolled Paul Edgar 7-1. Edgar tied with Davidson for fifth place. Huang then pulled off an 8-2 score over Mills in the quarterfinals but fell short against Orme 9-2 in the semifinals. Orme took an express ride back to the A side, where he faced Morra again. Having no intentions of seeing the finals go into two sets, Morra quickly disposed of Orme 9-5 to win the event.
