Davis Makes Late Comeback
KBP Lucasi Ladies’ 9-Ball Tour
by Rick Davis
The KBP Lucasi Ladies’ 9-Ball Tour was back in action over the March 31-April 1 weekend at Capone’s in Spring Hill, FL, where Leslie Davis regained control after a late loss to claim the billiards event.
Besting the field on the winners’ side was Stacey Lantz and Davis, who met in the hot seat match. Lantz blew through her matches, not giving up more than four racks and ending with a 7-0 shutout against Margaret Tarver, while Davis kept pace starting with a bye and defeating tour favorite Stephanie Mitchell 7-4. In the hot seat match Lantz grabbed the lead and never looked back, taking the match 7-2.
On the one-loss side Peggy Rowe started on a comeback after taking a first-round loss, eliminating tour regular Jessica Barnes along with others to reach the quarterfinals. Mitchell handed out a donut to Paige Morgan then gave another to Rowe to reach the semifinals. Mitchell looked good to that point, but Davis gave her some of her own medicine, not only defeating her for the second time in the event but doing so with a shut-out—this time around to reach the finals.
The finals between Davis and Lantz started slow and even, but in no time Davis started to gain ground, leading to the eventual 9-5 win to claim the event.
