2004 Sudden Death 7-Ball & Trick Shot MagicSet for ESPN Zone in Las Vegas, October 6th & 7thSan Diego, CA - Olhausen Billiard Manufacturing, Inc. (“Olhausen”), announced today their sponsorship of the 2004 Sudden-Death 7-Ball & Trick Shot Magic Pro Events.  These two dynamic men’s tournaments will be hosted by the ESPN Zone in Las Vegas, Nevada, o­n October 6th and 7th, and will be televised by ESPN beginning in December.  Olhausen is the official table sponsor for these two exciting championships with all play held o­n Olhausen Champion Pro tables.Sudden Death 7-Ball will feature the following eight top players from an international roster competing for a purse of $40,000:  Johnny Archer, the 2003 Sudden Death 7-Ball Champion and 2003 Player of the Year will return to defend his title.Thomas Engert, the 2004 International Challenge of Champions winner, will represent Germany.Alex Pagulayan, the 2004 WPA World 9-Ball Champion, will represent Canada.Ralf Souquet, the 2004 Derby City Classic 9-Ball Champion will also represent Germany.Tony Robles, the 2004 BCA 9-Ball Open Champion.Rodney Morris, the 2004 Sands Reno Open Champion.Corey Deuel, the 2004 Derby City Classic Ring Game Champion will represent the USA.Lee Vann Corteza, the 2004 Asian 9-Ball Tour Champion, will represent the Phillippines.The winner will claim $25,000 in Sudden-Death 7-Ball.  The game is o­ne of action and offense, designed by ESPN to attract a younger television viewership.  Played by rules to make it exciting and entertaining, whoever pockets the seven ball wins the game.  A match consists of two sets, race to seven games each set, with a o­ne-game sudden-death in the event of tied sets.  The seven ball must be “called” to win and does not count o­n the break.  The format lends itself to close matches and quick run-outs. Trick Shot Magic will present the following eight international stars of the sport contending for a purse of $40,000:  Mike Massey, the 2003 World Trick-Shot Champion and Trick-Shot Magic Champion in 2000 and 2001, representing the USA, will return to defend his title.Stefano Pelinga, the 2004 European Artistic Pool Champion, will represent Italy.Andy Segal, the 2004 Las Vegas Open Artistic Pool Champion, will represent the USA.Luke Szywala, the 2004 Masters Artistic Pool Champion, will represent Poland.Charles Darling, the 2004 North American Artistic Pool Champion. Tom Rossman, the 2004 Masters Artistic Pool Runnerup and 2003 Trick-Shot Magic Champion, will also be representing the USA.Sebastian Giumelli, the 2004 South American Artistic Pool Champion, will represent Argentina.Nick Nikolaidis, the 2004 Canadian Artistic Pool Champion, will represent Canada.The Trick Shot Magic winner will claim the crown and $25,000.  The format for the tournament consists of ten skill shots and ten artistic show shots in each match.  Players will execute a challenge shot of their choice, and their opponents are required to duplicate the shot or lose a point.  The players alternate shots in two-man, head-to-head matches, performing intricate trick shots meant to stymie their opponents.  A sudden death tiebreaker to decide a match will require an eight-rail bank shot o­nto the face of a $100 bill.ESPN will televise three o­ne-hour programs o­n both Sudden Death 7-Ball and Trick-Shot Magic.  The ESPN Zone will make both events admission-free for spectators.  The ESPN Zone is a 50,000-square-foot sports-themed dining and entertainment complex located at the New York New York Hotel Casino in Las Vegas (phone: 702-933-3776).  ESPN Zone, Olhausen Billiard Manufacturing, Inc. and Viking Cue will present the winners’ checks.  The tournaments are also sponsored by Aramith Super Pro Balls, The Spider, Simonis Cloth, The Association for P.O.O.L., Mueller Rack and Silver Cup Chalk.  The tournaments will be produced by Matt and Bettiane Braun of Billiards International, Ltd.Ample parking is available near ESPN Zone.  Tournament sessions begin o­n October 6th at 10:00 A.M. for both events.  The Sudden Death 7-Ball Semifinals and Championship Finals will begin at 6:00 P.M. o­n October 6th.  The Trick Shot Magic Semifinals and Championship Finals will begin at 4:00 P.M. o­n October 7th.  Admission is free and those attending should plan to arrive early.  For more information call: 860-379-8414.Olhausen, located in Poway, California, is known for their beautifully hand-crafted pool tables and fine line of matching game room accessories.  The Olhausen Authorized Dealer Network extends throughout the United States and the world.
