2006 MN ACS Singles and Scotch Doubles Results The Minnesota charter of the American CueSports Alliance (MN ACS) held it Second Annual Scotch Doubles 8 ball and Singles 8 ball Championships at Jackpot Junction Hotel & Casino in Morton, MN, January 12 – 15,  2006. The turn out exceeded expectations with a 25% increase over 2005. Players from all over Minnesota came to compete in the second annual event. With 470 entries vying for over $27,000 in all divisions, there was more than ample competition on hand. “Staying true to old traditions while embracing new beginnings” was the theme of the event. It was an exciting time for those who were there. Tournament administration by High Country Productions was excellent and the 68 Valley tables provided by Quality Table Service were in perfect condition. The $2000 added Scotch Doubles tournament that started on Thursday Jan. 12th provided a great warm up for the main event and made some people’s weekend early. Chad Johnson teamed with Robin Wellman won the drivers seat and made taking first place look easy in the Scotch Doubles Championship event. Rich Cunningham and Kelly Jones made a good run by knocking off some of the favorites to take second.
On Friday evening with all players in attendance, the $10,000 added Singles event got under way with the smooth tournament direction of Gary Benson. With four men’s divisions and three women’s divisions the skill levels were adequately spread out. Little did anyone suspect that there were some major upsets brewing as Beth Fondell double dipped Cheryl Hanson to win the Women’s Masters title. While in the Men’s Master division Beau Runningen won the drivers seat and never looked back defeating Rob Mattson in the finals to win the 2006 Championship. In the Men AA division Larry Hebler took the title. In the Men’s A division the competition roared on as Steve Tapper, Rudy Martin and Mark Kuklok made the dash for the cash. In the end Steve Tapper came out on top and won the A division title.  In the lower ranks the B players were getting topnotch tournament experience in the largest field of the event. Joe Rossing knocked off Bill Condon for the cash and first place honors. We’ll see how well they fare next year in the A division. Meanwhile the women’s AA division was as close as they get with Toni Johnson getting the upper hand on newcomer Marissa Herum to claim her first ever State Championship title. At the same time just a couple of tables away Kelly Jones was defeating Rose Johnson to clinch the Women’s A division. MN ACS President Dean Bradley was quoted as saying “We are extremely pleased with the increase over last year; it was far more than we expected. You couldn’t ask for a better event, the players are great. I have received nothing but compliments from players on the tournament direction, table quality, trophies, payouts and location. On behalf of the MN ACS I would like to thank the ACS, Jackpot Junction Hotel and most of all the players for their support. We look forward to our $12,000 added nine ball singles and team event March 9th – 12th.”Results of All Divisions 2006 MN ACS Scotch Doubles1st Robin Wellman/Chad Johnson2nd Kelly Jones/Rich Cunningham3rd Beth Fondell/John Fondell4th Angie Wade/Bill Brunelle5-6th Kelly Haffner/Brian Haffner5-6th Pam Patton/Jim Fraser7-8th Rose Malkovich/Beau Runningen7-8th Jolene Herum/John Meyer9-12th Wendy Leuth/Jeff Knies9-12th Greta Beckstrand/Joel Prueher9-12th Lana Bjork/Steve Uchytil9-12th June Maiers/Matt Benton13-16th Justine Semmler/Todd Souba13-16th Jenni Benson/Doug Fahey13-16th Roma Edens/Matt Aschnewitz13-16th Susan Symes/Ray HammermeisterMN ACS Men's Masters1st Beau Runningen2nd Rob Mattson3rd Rich Cunningham4th Ty Wilson5-6th Justin Boyer5-6th Brian Haffner7-8th Jeff Maurer7-8th Doug FaheyMN ACS Men's AA Division1st Larry Hebler2nd Tim Peterson3rd Matt Benton4th Steve Meier5-6th Andy Schlosser5-6th Mike Moran7-8th Jeff Brunelle7-8th Brian Netzke9-12th Chuck Dvorak9-12th Josh Shones9-12th Cory Otis9-12th Pat CollinsMN ACS Men's A Division1st Steve Tapper2nd Rudy Martin3rd Mark Kuklok4th Ryan Wenger5-6th Jeff Hinna5-6th Derek Bell7-8th Sam Howell7-8th Jon Munson9-12th Matt Felt9-12th Aaron Dudas9-12th Jeremy Smith9-12th Jesse Sausen13-16th Eddie Richmond13-16th Dan Hodge13-16th Chad Duval13-16th Brian AndersonMN ACS Men's B Division1st Joe Rossing2nd Bill Condon3rd Bob Taylor4th Bob Giles5-6th Weston Koski5-6th Steve Uchytil7-8th Brian Stu7-8th Ed Munn9-12th Jeremy Williams9-12th Tom Chea9-12th Ken Graf9-12th Mark Finken13-16th Scott George13-16th Matthew Steffens13-16th Kevin Deopere13-16th Darren Peterson17-24th Dave Thunstrom17-24th Joe Farr17-24th Rick Gelle17-24th Scott Barrett17-24th Matt Swanson17-24th Rick Sonnenberg17-24th Doug Felt17-24th Bill Brown25-32nd Joe Krzmarzick25-32nd Chris Bloom25-32nd Ryan Harmsen25-32nd Daryl Schomer25-32nd Brandon Sonnenberg25-32nd Scott Sonnenberg25-32nd Chuck Winegar25-32nd Ryan KohlsMN ACS Women's Masters Division1st Beth Fondell2nd Cheryl Hanson3rd Debbie Johnson4th Christie Lerum5-6th Cheryl Pullis5-6th Jolene Herum7-8th June Maiers7-8th Pam PattonMN ACS Women's AA Division1st Toni Johnson2nd Marissa Herum3rd Gayle Kofoed4th Chris Vorwerk5-6th Kerry Bement5-6th Babe SongetayMN ACS Women's A Division1st Kelly Jones2nd Rose Johnson3rd Greta Beckstrand4th Nancy Pries5-6th Jennifer Johnson5-6th Deb Nielsen7-8th Emily Hinna7-8th Angela Spychalla9-12th Tonya O'Neal9-12th Lyn Duranceau9-12th Justine Semmler9-12th Michele RicciVisit InsidePOOL Magazine to the get the leatest news from the sport of billiards and pool.
