6596 Individuals Enter The 2005 Championships Press Release BCA LeagueWhat a great start to the 29th BCA National 8-Ball Championships. All entries are in, prize funds are being formulated and ballrooms are being prepared for the Greatest Pool Tournament in the World! Come and Join The Celebration! at the Riviera. This year’s Championships will host nine Singles, six Team, and two Scotch Doubles divisions combined with three special events makes the 2005 Championships one of the largest ever. Over $600,000 will be awarded during this year’s competition with over 3000 checks being awarded. We hope you are on the receiving end of at least one of those checks. Included in the $600,000 will be approximately $6,000 in cash awards to be handed out just for playing in the event and being a member of the BCA Pool League (BCAPL).At the conclusion of the 2004/2005 league year, The BCAPL will have returned to league players a total of $100,000 in added funds for tournaments up from last years figures of $56,250. This substantial increase in added monies reflects Mark Griffin’s goal to return as much money as possible to grow prize funds for all BACPL sanctioned events. The BCAPL’s goal is to double this amount in the upcoming league year.New for 2005! Grand Master DivisionsOne new event for the 2005 Championships is the Grand Master, men’s and women’s divisions. Each division will have a minimum of $3,000 added to their competition with a maximum of $5,000 added. You must be a BCAPL sanctioned player, League or Player Member, to participate in the event and Player Memberships will be available for anyone who would like to join and participate in this inaugural event. Since this event is new, WE ARE ALLOWING on-SITE SIGNUPS AT THE EVENT FOR GRAND MASTERS onLY!Anyone not playing in the Professional event, the BCA 9-Ball Championships also being contested at this venue, may play in the Grand Master Divisions. The field is limited to 32 in each division. Pass the word and come take a shot at this unique event, you’ll be glad you did!2005/2006 Posters Available The 2005 BCA National 9-Ball Championships and the 2006 BCA National 8-Ball Championships posters will be made available to all beginning May 14, 2005 at the 8-Ball Championships check in counter.$25,000 Added: Plaza Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas October 25-30, 2005 2005 BCA National 9-Ball Championships (League Players only $13,000 added) 2005 U S Open one Pocket ($5,000 added) 10-Ball Events including Ring Game ($5,000 added) Bank Tournament ($2,000 added) Mini Tournaments for all BCA and non-BCA members Last year’s 9-Ball Championship and US Open one Pocket events were resurrected in 2004 after being dormant for several years. The return of these events was met with great enthusiasm by players and vendors alike. The 2004 event boasts of 505 cross entered participants and we look for those numbers to increase dramatically in 2005.The 9-Ball Championships will be limited to BCAPL members who must meet eligibility requirements. All other events will be open to anyone who wishes to participate whether they are BCAPL affiliated or not. Be sure to get qualified for the 9-Ball Championships through your League Operator by participating in league play and meeting eligibility requirements for the 9-Ball Championships
