ACS Texas Wins Suit Against BCAThe ACS Texas Pool League Association won a full judgment for $6,898 against the Billiard Congress of America in El Paso County (TX) in a Colorado Springs, CO, court on March 8. The suit stemmed from a decision made by the BCA made last summer to withhold 2003-2004 one-dollar rebates to all state associations who chose to affiliate with American CueSport Alliance. The decision represented one dollar for each Texas league member that was due a rebate from the BCA. Other members affected included those who chose to become Independent in the current 2004-2005 league year. The plaintiff's argued that the policy decision made by the BCA board was puzzling, mainly because the rebate was due for the league year prior to the sale of the BCA league and players programs. They also cited that a few other state associations that renounced their former BCA affiliations had already been given their rebates. However, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia are still waiting on their rebates. ACS also stated that all of the associations involved were completely separate organizations and were not contractually bound to the BCA. Rather, the state associations voluntarily continued to affiliate with the BCA one year at a time, and it was solely based on a preference to the promise of the rebate program. W.C. Dixon, president of the ACS Texas Association was quoted as saying, "All we wanted was for the Billiard Congress of American to pay us what was previously promised and rightfully due.
