Abbink Repeats on Michigan 9-Ball Tour By InsidePOOL StaffAfter her awesome win the month prior at the inaugural event of the J. Pechauer Michigan Women's 9-Ball Tour, Rachael Abbink was back in action at their second stop. The tour attracted 29 women, with Abbink defeating Alice Rim in the finals for back-to-back wins.Held in Lansing, MI, the tour's second stop was $500 added. The 9-foot tables are separated by benches and spaced out nicely, ensuring that there are no train wrecks between players.
David Hanshaw did a great job of running the event, which took place on October 25, 2003. Abbink cruised through the winners' bracket unscathed, defeating players such as Lonnie Fox, Karyn Stroh, and CJ Jerome before meeting Rim in the hot seat match, where she defeated Rim 7-2.Rim, a Michigan local, defeated Susan Wade, Kelly Pendleton, Jaki Lovrince, and Andrea Knieper before her loss to Abbink that put her in the one-loss side. There she went head-to-head with Tara David, who took second place at the tour's first stop, and won the hill-hill match. In the Abbink/Rim rematch, both ladies played some great pool and fought hard against each other, but it seemed as if Abbink ultimately got more rolls than her opponent did, and she ultimately won the finals by the score of 9-5.The J. Pechauer Michigan Women's 9-Ball Tour's next stop will be on December 5-6, 2003, at Bogart's Billiard Café and will be a $500-added event.
