Alfredo Aces Inaugural Viking Cue Amateur Tour EventBrian Alfredo owns the bragging rights of being the first-ever, first-place winner on The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tour. The tour's inaugural season got underway with a field of 62 players at Fiddlestix Billiard Café in Canton, OH, on August 22, 2004. With the tournament's format having all the events as one-day affairs, many players feared that they might be in for a late night finish. That wasn't the case as tournament director Matt Janis moved the tournament along quickly, completing the event in just over 10 hours.Brian Alfredo took the hot seat with a 5-3 win over Cordell King, who found an 'in-stroke' Don Wells waiting for him on the one-loss side. A third-round defeat by Jim Davis sent Wells to the one-loss side, where he strung together eight matches, rolling over King 5-0 to set up the final match with Alfredo. It looked like the 5-0-win over King must have drained the last drop from Wells' gas tank because he was on the receiving end of a 5-0 drubbing from Alfredo in the final match.
