Allison Fisher Preserves Her Dynasty on WPBA TourEast Peoria, IL – Allison Fisher continued her perfect winning streak on the Women’s Professional Billiard Association’s 2003 Tour, beating Karen Corr in the final match of the Cuetec Cues Midwest Classic held June 11-15, playing to a sold out, standing room only crowd at Par-A-Dice Hotel/Casino. The win was Fisher’s third in the first three WPBA tour events and extended her points lead in the rankings. Heading into the Sunday finals, the final four consisted of the three top ranked professionals - Fisher, Corr, and Helena Thornfeldt - and the tenth-ranked player, Kim Shaw. In the first match of the day, Shaw upended Thornfeldt 7-4 to move on to the semifinal round against Corr. In the semifinals, Corr ended Shaw’s march to the finish in a 7-4 match. Although losing the match, Shaw’s third-place finish in the tournament elevated her to a fourth place year-to-date ranking on the tour.
The title match featured the two most outstanding players of the tournament. They had gone head-to-head the night before, with Fisher taking that match 9-8. What was expected to be a competitive and thrilling match turned out to be just that, with Fisher sinking the 9 ball to end the 13-game match and winning 7-6. The tournament brought a close to the first half of the 2003 Tour, which will resume with the WPBA U.S. Open 9-Ball at Sandia Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 11-15, 2003, followed by the Cuetec Cues Canadian Classic at the Casino Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, on October 15-19, and the tour’s last event, The Cuetec Cues National 9-Ball Championship, at the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon, November 19-23, 2003.
