Another Win for White
Canadian 30K Tour / Oshawa, ONT
by Willy Hermoza and Tony Butera
A good group of 31 billiard players ventured out in the rain to partake in the March 24-25 stop of the Canadian 30K Tour, held at Tee’s and Cue’s in Oshawa, ONT. In the end, long time champion and all-around-good-guy, Jeff White, set the pace and decimated his opponents on his way to taking top honors.
“Great White” routed Marvin Catindig by a score of 9-1 to set up the fight for the hot seat against Paul Tytler. White was able to take control of this match and defeat Tytler 9-5 to wait for a challenger in the finals.
On the one-loss side, young up-and-comer McEarl Bucais torched up the chart, racing through Jaypee Castillo, Marc Bucais, Tony Butera, and Catindig. He then made quick work of Scott Soroko 6-4 in the quarterfinals, advancing to face Tytler in the semis. Sending Tytler home with third place, Bucais then went on to face White. He issued a devastating 6-0 score over White in the first set, but in the end, skill and experience proved to be more than a match, as White picked his opponent apart and wins 10-2 in the second set.
