Atwell Goes Home Happy from Jacoby Great Lakes Tourby Matthew PingorPort Clinton, OH - Janet Atwell went home happy with the extra smile of $400, when she won first place during the Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour. The $1,000-added event drew a well concentrated group of women out to Rack Attack Billiards Café, February 11-12. The hot seat match saw Atwell endure one Dawn Fox. This was a nail biter, if anyone who watches people bite nails could testify. Fox was on her game, and showed everyone else how to do so when she bested Atwell 7-6. With one finals spot clinched, the rest of the event would produce tight matches, you would think. That was not so as CJ Jerome sliced Jullie Mellman into pieces, 7-1, in the quarterfinals. With that out of the way, Jerome moved on to play Atwell. Jerome could have composed a better strategy, but she foolishly trusted the momentum of her last match. This allowed Atwell to see every angle on a grid laid out before her, and take advantage of Jerome’s assumptions to win 7-6.
Now that all that gore was out of the way, Atwell and Fox readied for the Finals. In this arena both women played their hearts out. The match entertained the crowd for about 14 games. Atwell ended Fox’s hopes of winning this stop 9-5.Results:1st Janet Atwell2nd Dawn Fox3rd CJ Jerome4th Jullie Mellman5th Tracy JohnstonGail GrecarVisit InsidePOOL Magazine for the latest news from the sport of biliards and pool.
