BCA Creates Junior Membersip Colorado Springs, CO - Stephen D. Ducoff, Executive Director of the Billiard Congress of America (BCA), announces a new BCA membership category for junior players (age 18 and under). "The BCA is focused on supporting youth in billiards through a variety of programs. The BCA Junior Player Membership will encourage young players to become involved in the sport as both a competitive and social activity," said Mr. Ducoff. "We will also be able to tailor activities, promotions and programs to those active players 18 and younger."
Annual dues for a BCA Junior Player Membership are $15 and will allow juniors to play in BCA Junior National 9-Ball Qualifiers, held each year throughout the country in April, May and June. BCA Junior Player Members will receive product discounts with select BCA Business Members and an annual player package that includes a BCA rulebook, instructional booklet, membership card, patch and pin. The BCA already has a Player Membership category for adults. BCA Player Membership is required to enter the Singles divisions of the BCA National 8-Ball Championships, if a player is not already a BCA League Player. Other national sport organizations have similar membership requirements for youth participation. "The BCA is creating programs for youth beyond qualifiers and national tournaments," said BCA Youth and League Program Coordinator Carrie Benson. "We are developing high school curricula for physical education, math and physics. We have developed new criteria for educational scholarships, and we are working closely with The Boys and Girls Club of America to introduce the sport to a whole new generation."
