BCA Seeks Hall of Fame Nominations Stage and screen actor Jerry Orbach to preside over 2004 induction ceremony Colorado Springs, CO - The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) is seeking nominations for the 2004 BCA Hall of Fame ballot. The BCA Hall of Fame honors outstanding people whose competitive skills and dedication have enriched the sport and industry of billiards. "The Hall of Fame program allows us to honor the best players and contributors to billiards," said BCA Executive Director Stephen Ducoff. "We're very pleased to announce that Mr. Jerry Orbach of NBC's Law & Order has agreed to be the host of the 2004 induction ceremony."
The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 1, 2004, in the Las Vegas Hilton. "We've moved the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to an earlier night so that everyone will be able to attend this magnificent gathering of billiard legends," said Mr. Ducoff. "In past years, the event has been held on Saturday night, when most exhibitors are busy dismantling their booths." In addition to the new night, the event will have a new format and a lower ticket price. The ticket price has been set at $35 and will feature an hors d'oeuvres and dessert buffet. A billiard table will be set up for Hall of Fame Member demonstrations and challenges. Mr. Orbach is an avid billiard fan and an accomplished player. He was thrilled to be invited as the host of billiard's most prestigious event of the year. Nominees will be selected by the BCA Hall of Fame Committee, chaired by Tom Shaw of Pool & Billiard Magazine. Also on the committee are Conrad Burkman (National Billiard News), J.R. Calvert (InsidePool Magazine), John Nusser (J-S Sales), Mike Panozzo (Luby Publishing), Mike Shamos (The Billiard Archive) and Stephen Ducoff (BCA). The Greatest Players category is reserved for persons who have competed professionally for at least 20 years and have won at least one national or world cue sport title recognized by the BCA or other sanctioning body of which the BCA is a member. The Meritorious Service category is reserved for persons who have made lasting, memorable and important contributions to the sport and industry of billiards. Ballots will be mailed to BCA Business Members in early December 2003 and will be due back to the BCA office by January 12, 2004.
