Back-to-Back Billiard Wins for HjorliefsonCanadian 30K Tour / Newmarket, ONTby Willy Hermoza and Tony ButeraIt was an awesome start of the year for Canadian pool players, as 58 gathered at Bigwigs to play the first 30K Tour event of the year January 6-7. Eric "Big Red" Hjorliefson has now won the last two events back to back and doesn't look like slowing down at all.
Hjorliefson made his assault from the one-loss side, eliminating Tol Kuy 9-2 and then ousting Mike Loponen by the same score, sending him home with fifth place. Moving up to the quarterfinals, Scott McDonald met Hjorliefson there but couldn't surpass him as the match ended 10-6. Norm Glover and Robert Capistrand matched up for the hot seat, with Glover taking it 8-4 and sending Capistrand to face Hjorliefson in the one-loss side. After winning that match 10-3, Hjorliefson was ready to show down with Glover in the two-set finals. The first set went 10-3 in Hjorliefson's favor, and after he reloaded for the second, it ended up being a mirror finish of the first set.
