Bauries Strikes AgainKBP Central Florida 9-Ball Tour / Longwood, FLby Rick DavisMatt Bauries took top honors at the KBP Central Florida 9-Ball Tour, held at Fast Break Billiards in Longwood, FL. The event, which took place July 23, was Bauries’ second top finish on this year’s tour, as he won the previous event July 9.There were 46 entries for the local tour stop, most of whom fell beneath the weight of the top finishers. Bauries made quick work of the winners’ side until he reached the hot seat match against Travis Moore. There he was kind enough to give away five racks before taking the match 7-5 to take a much-needed rest in the hot seat.
On the one-loss side, Ton Vicari fought hard and shut out Robert Noon 5-0, while Brian Davalos battled against Josh Lewis, finally taking the match 5-4. Each knocking out a chunk of the field, Vicari and Davalos were destined to meet up, and a grueling double-hill match allowed Vicari to squeeze by 5-4. Some saw an upset here, as Lewis and Davalos had four first-place finishes between them, along with several other top finishes. As the end loomed closer, Vicari defeated Moore 5-3 after he was sent to the one-loss side, allowing Vicari to reach the finals. The awaiting Bauries was ready for a fight, and Vicari was happy to offer one, although Bauries just could not be taken out, defeating Vicari 9-8 to take the title undefeated.Results:1st Matt Bauries2nd Tony Vicari3rd Travis Moore4th Brian Davalos5th Robert NoonJosh Lewis
