Bauries Takes Third First-Place Finish in BilliardsKBP Central Florida Tour / Palm Harbor, FLby Rick DavisThe fourteenth stop of the KBP Central Florida Billiard Tour swung into Strokers Billiards in Palm Harbor, FL, where Matt Bauries dominated the 30-player field that assembled September 17.Quickly reaching the hot seat match, Matt Bauries clashed with Mike Destefano, both regular top finishers on tour, and after going double-hill the dust settled, with Bauries coming out on top of the 7-6 score.Action on the one-loss side was mostly lopsided by contrast. Bill Bloom destroyed Billy Schmidt 5-2, while Nomar Paula was kind enough to let Trevor Moore see double-hill before eliminating him 5-4. Bloom, liking the previous score, handed it out to Paula as well, sending him away with a 5-2 defeat.
With Bloom just off two big wins, he looked good going into a match against Destefano, who just lost a close one, although Destefano turned on the power and never looked back, defeating Bloom 5-1. The final match was déjà vu for the spectators, with Bauries and Destefano evenly matched again. Destined to be close, neither player could pull ahead. Once again they found themselves at double-hill, and once again Bauries came out on top, this time from the extended race to 9. This was Baurie’s third top finish on tour this year, as well as the second consecutive runner-up finish for Destefano.Results:1st Matt Bauries2nd Mike Destefano3rd Bill Bloom4th Nomar Paula5th Billy SchmidtTrevor Moore
