Billiards To Be Introduced into 2005 State Games of America NCSG Executive Director, Steve Kearney, has announced that for the first time Billiards will be a featured event in the 2005 State Games of America. Currently, billiards is showcased in seven State Games - Montana (Big Sky State Games), Colorado (Rocky Mountain State Games), Iowa (Iowa Games), New Mexico (New Mexico Games), Arizona (Grand Canyon State Games), Indiana (State Games of Indiana) and Nebraska (Cornhusker State Games). Medalists in Billiards from the 2003 and 2004 State Games or the 2004 and 2005 Winter Games in any of the states listed above will be qualified to compete in the 2005 State Games of America The National Congress of State Games (NCSG) is a membership organization comprised of 35 Summer State Games and 14 Winter State Games organizations and a community-based member of the United States Olympic Committee. The NCSG is also the rights holder of the State Games of America, a multi-sport event featuring competition between State Games medal winners (gold, silver, bronze) from across the nation. Traditionally, individual state games medalists have qualified to compete in the bi-annual State Games of America - to be conducted again in 2005 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 28-31. . Kearney expressed "Billiards is one of the most popular sporting activities in the United States, and it is only proper that it take its place among the other traditional sports we will be showcasing in Colorado Springs in 2005 . " The national competition will run in concurrence with the 2005 Rocky Mountain State Games and feature individual medal disciplines in Junior's (age 18 & under), Men's Open (age 19-54), Women's Open (age 19-49), Men's Seniors (age 55+) and Women's Seniors (50+) - all disciplines competing on 3 1/2 x 7 foot tables using the WPA world-standardized rules recognized by the American CueSports Alliance (ACS).
