Bond Busts Tucson Fieldby InsidePOOL StaffGlenn Bond of Phoenix, AZ, won the eighth stop of the 2006 McDermott All-American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance) by going undefeated through the field. The event featured a $1,500-added purse and 68 players from as far away as El Paso, TX, and Albuquerque, NM. Hosted by owner Bob Jackson at Main Street Billiards in Tucson, AZ, the weekend of January 14-15, the event featured double-elimination 9-ball on 9-foot Brunswick Gold Crowns. In the hot seat match, Bond comfortably dispatched Dennis Orender 9-5. In the one-loss bracket semifinals, Bob Palmer was leading Eddie Uber 3-1 when Uber’s reaction to missing a 7 ball elicited his disqualification for unsportsmanlike conduct. Palmer then eliminated Orender 7-5 in the semifinals to gain a shot at Bond. The finals were one race to 11, and Bond again appeared to have the match in hand at 9-2, only to have Palmer catch a gear to tie the score at 9-9. Bond reached the hill first, but Palmer joined him in the next game to force a decisive game, and Bond prevailed for the title by an 11-10 margin. Bond joined the ACS at the beginning of the event and received the added reward of a free entry to the 2006 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas in June by virtue of being the highest-finishing ACS member.Results:1st Glenn Bond2nd Bob Palmer3rd Dennis Orender4th Eddie Uber5th Al GaudettNani Dominguez7th Don WestbrooksAndy Kachur9th Charlie CameronTom NeilJack RippelKirk Moench13th Dave CollinsZeb CrawfordEric BeelerBrett SmithVisit InsidePOOL Magazine for the latest news from the sprot of billiards and pool.
