Bowman Carries Cuemasters Billiards
The twenty-sixth stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour, produced by the American CueSports Alliance (ACS) was hosted by owner Bill Kramer at Cuemasters Billiards, in Dubuque, Iowa, on March 17, and featured a $1,000 added purse with twenty-nine players. The event included a double-elimination 8-ball format on bar boxes, and Rich Bideaux, Moline, IL, ran undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Bideaux – rated a “4” on a regional handicap system used – clipped Jesse Bowman, E. Moline, IL, rated a “5”, 4-3. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Bideaux had outplayed Larry Sneath, Moline, IL [3] 4-0, while Bowman outlasted Josh Johnson (Bettendorf, IA) [5] 5-4.
In the B-side quarterfinals Josh Johnson eliminated Kevin Morris (Cuba City, WI) [3] 5-2, while Larry Sneath upended Duncan Kaufman (Madison, WI) [4] 3-3; in the semifinals, Johnson took out Sneath 5-1; and in the B-side finals Bowman ended Johnson’s run by a 5-1 margin. Bowman had to defeat Rich Bideaux two sets for the title, and Jesse Bowman went into his next gear to march past Bideaux for the title 5-2, 5-1!
By virtue of Jesse Bowman having met his quota from previous Tour wins and 2nd-place Rich Bideaux being the highest-finishing ACS member, Rich qualified for a free 9-ball singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Silver Cup Chalk, Billiard Wholesalers and Pro Series Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by contacting the ACS.
Saturday, March 24, will feature a McDermott All American Tour stop at Greenfields Pool & Sports Bar in Lakewood, CO, hosting a $1,000 added 8-ball stop (for onsite entry details contact Todd Grosvenor at 303/989-9820). Information, entry details and schedules for the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour are available at www.americancuesports.org.
