Bowman Takes Top Honors in IowaAn undefeated Jesse Bowman took top honors at the seventh stop of the 2005/2006 McDermott All-American Tour January 7. This event featured a $500-added purse and 52 players, hosted by owner Terry Anderson at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport, IA. Playing double-elimination 9-ball on bar boxes, Bowman ran undefeated through the field. In the hot seat match, he clipped Chad Vilmont, who is rated a 6, by the final score of 6-4. After eliminating Tony Wilson (4) in the quarterfinals 4-0, Shane Johnson of Davenport, IA, went on to best Vilmont 4-3 in the semifinals.
Having to defeat Bowman two sets in the finals, Johnson made things interesting with a 4-2 win in the first set. But the deciding set was all Bowman by a 6-1 margin.By virtue of Bowman winning his first tour stop and being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free entry into either the 2006 ACS National 8-Ball Championships or the 2006 ACS National 9-Ball Championships, courtesy of the ACS. The next tour stop will be a two-day, $1,500-added 9-ball tournament at Main Street Billiards in Tucson, AZ, January 14-15. For onsite entry details, call host Bob Jackson at 520-546-3464.
