Brothers Bags Barbox Billiard EventPlanet Pool Tour / Hagerstown, MD
by Rick Davis
Josh Brothers made an impressive comeback to own the 38-player field at the Planet Pool Tour’s February 18 barbox competition. Taking place at Hagerstown Billiards in Hagerstown, MD, the open, double-elimination 9-ball event offered something for everyone.
Starting strong, Brothers defeated one of the North’s heavyweight players, Mike Davis, then barreled through three more rounds before catching the axe from Mitch Trainham. Along with Trainham, Joe Healy had his sights on the hot seat match, and after five straight wins they each found their way there. As the match completed, Healy chalked up his sixth win by sending Trainham west.
Over on the one-loss side, Matt Blickenstaff was trying to make a name for himself as he cut through six matches after taking an early loss to reach the top six. Slicing through the rest of the competition was Brothers, who took another four matches to reach the quarterfinals, meeting Mike Conway Jr. there after he eliminated Blickenstaff.
With only a handful remaining, Brothers disposed of Conway in the quarterfinals followed by Trainham in the semifinals. Holding the title in his sights, Brothers descended upon the waiting Healy and defeated him 7-4 to claim top honors.
