Brunswick Professional Players Championship Field Narrowing By InsidePOOL StaffThe field is narrowing at the Brunswick Professional Players Championship event, and at the end of Friday’s matches, there will be 24 players remaining. The tournament is a UPA stop and is being held in conjunction with the Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge, PA, through March 28, 2004.Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer suffered his first loss in Round 2 in an astonishing upset to New York player Frankie Hernandez 10-2. Hernandez went on to send Los Angeles player and UPA representative Corey Harper to the one-loss side as well after a hill-hill match. In the one-loss side, Archer ousted Charlie “The Korean Dragon” Williams in a hill-hill nailbiter and then went on to defeat Robb Saez 10-7.
Other surprises have been Jose Garcia over “Rocket” Rodney Morris 10-6 and Hunter Lombardo over Jimmy Wetch 10-4 in the winners’ side. In the one-loss bracket, Nick Mannino eliminated Teddy Garrahan 10-9, Danny “The Springfield Flash” Harriman sent Keith McCready home early 10-4, Mika Immonen eliminated Ronnie “Everything’s Funny When You’re Winning Big Money" Wiseman 10-5, and Rodney Morris ousted Jimmy Wetch 10-8.Visit InsidePOOL for the latest in the sport of billiards and pool.
