Held at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Philadelphia, PA, this event drew 71 fine players from across the country.In the winners' bracket matches, John Schmidt is still going strong, having vanquished opponent Mike Davis 10-4. Schmidt recently won the Reno Open last June, while Davis is a well-known player in New England and terrorizes the regional tour and pro events alike.Ronnie Wiseman, of Canada, defeated Pennsylvania's pride, Pat McNally, who also plays on the regional tours in his home state. The final score was a close 10-7.
Canada's Luc Salvas triumphed over Los Angeles hotshot Corey Harper in another close match that ended up 10-8. Italian Fabio Petroni defeated local player and room owner Jimmy Fusco after a strong comeback by the score of 10-8. Corey Deuel won his match against European player Tony Crosby 10-6. Another room owner and straight pool player, Jose Garcia, trounced opponent Ben Masucci 10-2, and pro player Teddy Garrahan fell to Hall-of-Famer Nick Varner 10-5. In the one-loss side of the bracket, Rodney "The Rocket" Morris won his match against Jose Feliciano 10-6, keeping himself alive for the next round. Tournament director and player Scott "The Junkyard Dog" Smith defeated Jack McGinnis by the score of 10-7. Jimmy Wetch, another room owner from Minneapolis, MN, defeated New Yorker Robb Saez 10-4.
