Chen Tears up First 2006 Fast Eddie’s FieldFast Eddie’s Olhausen 9-Ball Tour / Houston, TXby Bill FullerJui Lung Chen, a frequent winner of the Fast Eddie’s Olhausen 9-Ball Tour, sponsored by Schuler Legacy Cues, put another notch in his belt with his first 2006 tour win. The tour kicked off its fourth season January 21 in Houston, TX, at Fast Eddie’s Billiards. The open division yielded 81, men and all seemed ready to get the New Year rolling. As always, it was a tough field with some pretty intense matches. Finishing fourth and playing well was Shane Manaole of California. Manaole has been visiting Texas for a while now and has done quite well for himself. He is quiet and easy going but plays very hard.
Robert Clark of Dallas reopened many eyes this weekend, finishing in the third-place position as the tables seemed a little unforgiving toward the end. After winning the hot seat match, Chen seemed a little cold from waiting for an opponent. Crowd favorite Jimmy Moen, though suffering from a severe backache, was able to reach a stunning 7-1 lead over Chen in the final match. He came up dry on his next break, though, and Chen ran out and never looked back as he scored an amazing comeback with 8 consecutive games and the victory.
