Davis Continues to Blazeby Rick DavisThe heat was on in Castle Billiards in East Rutherford, NJ, for the Blaze 9-Ball Tour’s July 15-16 stop. Mike Davis kept control to win the top spot in the sixteenth of the thirty-stop mega-tour that always draws in the Northeast’s top players. With the event on track for a long night, the remaining few battled to advance. Scott Freeman blasted past a consistent top finisher on tour, Shaun Wilkie, 7-1, while Matt Krah, number two on the points list, was nearly as efficient against Mike Fingers, defeating him 7-3. Freeman met with Krah but was no match for the tour patron, who served up a shut-out 7-0. While that match took place, the hot seat showcased Davis and Paul Robinson, with Davis keeping a firm grip on the match until he defeated Robinson 7-4, sending him to face Krah.
Many expected to see Krah and Davis in yet another final match, but this time Robinson would have something to say about that as he sought a rematch against Davis. Robinson eliminated Krah by a 7-3 margin, moving back to see Davis in the finals. IPT pro and current Blaze tour points leader, Davis was ready to claim another title and did so by defeating Robinson 9-2 in a final match that played until 1:30 in the morning.Results:1st Mike Davis2nd Paul Robinson3rd Matt Krah4th Scott Freeman5th Shaun WilkieMike Fingers
