Destefano Prevails Over Davalos at the J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorTampa, FL - Mike Destefano came out on top February 18-19 at the J. Pechauer Custom Cues Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour. A field of 39 players showed up to Planet 9-Ball of Tampa, FL, to battle over the $2,460 purse. In the hot seat match, Destefano was pitted against Nomar Paula. This race to 9 was quickly decided as in just 11 games Destefano dissected Paula 9-2. The quarterfinals saw Brian Davalos and Travis Lasswell face off. Lasswell held on for a little while before Davalos ended the campaign, winning 9-5.
Davalos kept his cool as he advanced to the semifinals to play Paula. Suffering from the same fate as the hot seat match, Paula fell 9-2 again. Destefano was anxious to get some competition as Davalos made his way to join him in the finals. In one of the longer matches of the event, Davalos gave Destefano a headache through 20 games of stiff competition. This final was capped when Destefano rallied to a 11-9 finish, taking first place over Davalos.Results:1st Mike Destefano2nd Brian Davalos3rd Nomar Paula4th Travis Lasswell5th Tommy KennedyBob Otto7th Dan BriggsWade CraneVisit Inside POOL Magazine for the latest news from the J Pechauer Tour.
