Deuel Claims First Place Fame at 4T's Event By Tori Hilty, InsidePOOL staffDefeating a small but tough field of competitors, Corey Deuel took claim to first place fame at the second stop of the Tiny Taverns Town Tour, or more commonly known 4T's, on June 26, 2004. Held at The Sportsmen's Club in Columbus, Ohio, the one-day event drew a field of only 13, which included Danny "Kid Delicious" Basevich, who was fresh from his win at the Joss Tour season finale earlier this month.Considering the format was race to 3, it did not take long for the small field to clear out. Facing off in the quarters, Dee Adkins and Wally Rice were each fighting to move on, and it showed in their play. However, only one could, and that one was Adkins after defeating Rice 3-2.Meeting his first defeat of the day, Deuel went down to Will Slone in the hot seat match. Slone was able to skim past Deuel when the score was tied at the hill, winning the match 3-2 and sending Deuel to the one-loss side.
Adkins was primed and waiting for Deuel's arrival in the semifinals. Deuel's hunger for a rematch with Slone and a for a shot at the title proved too much for Adkins, who had to settle for a third place finish after he was defeated by Deuel. The tournament was a true double-elimination event, and the finals were no different. Deuel would have to defeat Slone twice in order to take home the championship. Commanding the finals from the start, Deuel did just that. He took the first set with a 3-1 win, and shut out Slone 3-0 in the second setResults:1st Corey Deuel 2nd Will Slone 3rd Dee Adkins4th Wally Rice Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
