Fernandez Repeats in ChelmsfordChelmsford, MA / J. Pechauer New England A/B Seriesby Marc Dionne Salivating over a $3,080 purse, 70 players came out to Country Club USA in Chelmsford, MA, for the J. Pechauer New England A/B Series. The January 22 event was paramount for Fernandez, as he placed first for the third time this tour’s season.   The hot seat match saw Tony Ruberto face Lee French. Ruberto sprinted ahead to an early 3-0 lead. Shortly after, French jumped his way up to take the lead at 4-3. Both players bartered games until they reached hill-hill. Ruberto managed to get the extra edge and finished off the next game, winning 7-6. In the semifinals, Fernanadez had to face an eager to win French. Any idea of underdog glory was smothered in this one-sided match. The first few games saw Fernandez snap two 9 balls in on off the bat and had strong intentions of making French remember this match. French had little or no energy at all as Fernandez blazed on to succeed 7-2. Ruberto came out firing and won the first three games before Fernandez came right back at him with the next four games to give him a 4-3 lead. Fernandez then made a shooting error that let Ruberto tie it up at 4-4.
